Abstract
The purpose of this paper was to review literatures about past clinical psychological studies on the hearing impaired in japan, in order to get suggestions about subjects on psychological supports and clinical psychological studies for the hearing impaired in Japan. First, in the topic of the history and subjects on the clinical psychological study and psycological supports for the hearing impaired, it was showed that the pathological viewpoint was taken place for the cultural viewpoint in the understanding of the hearing impaired. Next, important studies about identity of the hearing impaired and psychological supports were reviewed. Then, it was showed that the subjects of supports and studies were spreaded to the hard of hearing, the people who lost one's hearing ability in the halfway of life, the hearing impaired at old age and the parent who had hearing impaired child. From this review, it was showed that cultural viewpoint was important in the understanding of the hearing and there were many fields of study to be explored.
