Abstract
This paper contained a review together with some considerations concerning studies on acceptance process and clinical psychological support of persons for spinal cord injury (SCI). A number of researches have been performed about the psychological issues after SCI. The concepts of acceptance of disability and value change have been suggested since 1950'S. Subsequently many psychologists suggested stage theories in 1960'S. Since 1980'S the stage theories have been criticized, and there was growing interests in depression after SCI had been given attentions. However, previous researches aimed for the adjustment of initial period after SCI. Recent researches suggested necessity of the studies from a long viewpoint of psychological issues of SCI. Useful references for future clinical psychological support for SCI were obtained from psychotherapy models of people with other chronic disease serves.
