Abstract
We first supposed the difference between national universities and private ones about how the university extension were recognized and received into. In this paper we clarified the situation of the private universities on it by using the questionnaires for teachers of lifelong learning centers. Followings are the result: 1) Though the presidents admit the significance of the university extension, their views on it are various. 2) The teachers are not satisfied with the present condition of autonomy and recognition within a university. 3) The university extension needs to apply a stable vision, system and appropriate management to be institutionalized in private universities as "the Third Function".
