We have been studying efforts to reconceptualize the curriculum for home economics teacher training in the Department of Human Life Sciences Education at the Faculty of Education, Hiroshima University since 2015. Following the previous report, we clarified the results of the subject “Introduction to Human Development” in 2020, and considered these with the results of the three introductory lessons in the previous report. In addition, based on the epistemology of home economics and the hypothesis of the principle of content composition proposed by the Japanese Society of Subject Content, we examined the future of home economics content composition. We were able to confirm the following common results, accounting for the four introductions: (1) The students understood that the content of the subject (home economics) has an academic basis, and thought about the significance of home economics education. (2) From the proposals for home economics content composition at the Japanese Society of Subject Content, we obtained suggestions for devising and improving the course curriculum. (3) We aim to share the epistemological definition of home economics with teacher training organizations, and to recognize and reconstruct the specialty of the content based on that definition.
