Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine how to acquire basic contents, how basic contents were treated in junior high school music textbooks in conformity with the 1969 revision junior high school course of study, analyzing contents of teaching in teacher's manuals published by Kyouiku-Syuppan and Kyouiku-Geijyutsu-Sha. Finding revealed that contained the number of teaching materials, constitution and method were different between publishers, but both publishers' textbooks contained much learning activity ti learn rhythm, musical terms I marks, texture, melody. Thus, both publishers attached great importance to these basic contents in the constitution of their textbooks.
