The purpose of this study is to reveal Kikuo Shirai's viewpoint about Singing-Dancing education by considering his descriptions about Singing-Dancing in his books which was published in Meiji Period. As a result, it was revealed that his perspective of "Play" changed through he turned from music teacher to physical-education teacher. Concretely speaking, it changed from what aimed to develop power of mind and body to what aimed to Physical education. On the other hand, it is said that he continued to have a certain perspective of "Singing". That is, the sings with plays have a part which promotes emotional parts and enriches the value of plays. Shirai combined plays and sings positively, and called for play education suited for children in our country.
