Abstract
Recent data given on the population of Japan suggests that the foreign population of people living in Japan has consistently risen over the last decade. It is inevitable that the children of these minorities will continue to enroll in Japanese schools, but are the schools prepared for this new age of multiculturalism in Japan? This paper will discuss the movement for multicultural education, potential methods for improving multicultural education in the Japanese classroom, and some of the challenges that multicultural education faces.
