Abstract
English will become a compulsory subject for fifth- and sixth-graders in Japanese elementary schools in 2020. This research aims to present ways in which a modified version of “A Lost Button” by Arnold Lobel can contribute to improving learners’ four skills. The work is also expected to foster an attitude toward communication due to the familiarity of Lobel’s works among Japanese elementary school pupils.
