Abstract
The purpose of this study was to clarify clinical psychologists' practical problems of services and training in working with cancer patients and their family members. In 2007, a questionnaire on services and training systems was sent to 205 clinical psychologists in palliative care, for which 66 respondents (32.1%) returned completed questionnaires. The two open questions of the survey were qualitatively analyzed. The main results were as follows: (a) Asked about any problems of the services and training, 27 (40.9%) respondents mentioned some practical problems, and most respondents emphasized the difficulties of working alone and the importance of their collaborative efforts in interdisciplinary teams. (b)Asked about any requests for our research project, 25 (37.9%) respondents answered. Most requested a feedback of the results of this survey, the online/offline networks of clinical psychologists, and the lists of reliable supervisors. Finally, several methods to solve those problems were proposed and discussed.
