Kindergarten Education in Deutsche Schule Tokyo Yokohama: With a Focus on the Cooperation between Kindergarten and Elementary School

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to clarify the practice of kindergarten education and the cooperation between kindergarten and elementary school of Deutsche Schule Tokyo Yokohama. Deutsche Schule Tokyo Yokohama is a German school in Japan, it has from kindergarten to high school at one location and they place importance on the cooperation between kindergarten and elementary school. The practice was examined by focusing on their music education. As a result, the school has the following suggestive points: 1. the kindergarten has lessons which are given by elementary school teachers; 2. game elements are introduced in the transition process from kindergarten to elementary school learning system; 3. music plays an important role as a means of language learning; 4. physical movements are incorporated in music activities. A clue to consider how the effective cooperation between kindergarten and elementary school could be is given by this study.
