The most important issues in Chinese teacher education in 1990s are how it responds to basic education reforms and how we internationalize and organize new system of teacher education. Chinese government made several decisions on the process of the reforms in teacher education in order to improve the quality of the basic education and teacher education. The government also made a clear rule of the organizational and financial measures. The concrete policies are as follows; integration of in-service and pre-service training; contributions of teacher education to basic education curriculum reform; and the advancement of professionalization of teachers.
