Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the relation between school children’s trust in teachers and teachers’ behavior from the perspective of children’s developmental stage. A questionnaire was distributed to 100 school children, including 54 fourth grade children and 46 sixth grade children. Children’s trust in 6 types of teachers (considerate teachers, teachers with smile, teachers without boasting, friendly teachers, teachers with vitality, and teachers who talk about topics other than school-life) were measured. The results of analysis of variance showed the following: 1) Children tend to trust in considerate teachers, regardless of their developmental stage. 2) There were some differences between fourth grade and sixth grade. Fourth grade children tend to trust in teachers with vitality and smile. On the other hand, sixth grade children tend to trust in teachers who talk about topics other than school-life.
