Abstract
This study uses Jerome Bruner’s autobiography to examine the formative process of his education theory. In this paper, I focus on his life at Duke University, his time at Harvard University, and his involvement in World War II, and I analyze this period with respect to his political influences and his academic activities in psychology and pedagogy. I also consider Bruner’s personal relationships and involvement with other educators.
