The purpose of this research was to clarify the function of promoting school identity with "Shokuinshitsu (Faculty Room) Culture" by analyzing a group interview of 4 currently-practicing teachers. The results show that when a teacher was transferred to a different school the value of "Shokuinshitsu (Faculty Room) Culture" was recognized, and that its impact on the identity of a school could be felt. Furthermore, they show that "Shokuinshitsu (Faculty Room) Culture" functions not only to influence the formation of professional skills among individual teachers, but also (1) to promote the identity of that school and (2) to promote the identity of other schools through the transfer of teachers.
