Abstract
This survey aimed to find elementary school pupils' needs for English textbook. Questionnaire was answered by 491 elementary school pupils who were 3rd grade and over. The result showed that more than 70% of all the 4 grades wanted English textbook and they wanted to use it when they could not understand what teachers were saying and also wanted to use it at home. In contrast, around 25% of 5th and 6th graders expressed that they did not feel the necessity of the textbook mainly because of their satisfaction with today's English education at elementary school without textbooks. Finally, the relationship between their likes and dislikes toward English and needs for textbook was discussed.
