Abstract
Since the National Party regime led by Chiang Kaishek escaped to Taiwan in 1949 after beaten in the civil war, there existed a severe adversary relationship between Mainland China and Taiwan for a long time. However, detente progressed quickly from 1990s. In the field of education, symposiums and seminars have been held mutually, exchanges of specialists and their lectures have been conducted, and student exchanges have been also promoted gradually. Particularly the year 2011 marked a turning point of historical significance for both sides. Taiwan started accepting the regular degree students from mainland China as well as accrediting the degrees and credentials earned by Taiwanese students in the mainland. This article aims to analyze the China-Taiwan relations over the education, particularly scrutinize how the student exchange has been actually brought forward. Problems pertaining to the practice, expectations and speculations of both sides as well as the prediction of future deployment will be discussed.
