The aim of this paper is to clarify the characteristics of secondary science teacher training program in France today. The results were as follows; 1. The elements of competences required for teachers in France contain three parts, i.e. subject matters, management of student learning, and public education system. 2. By showing teacher competences concretely, the person, who is engaged in pre-service and in-service training, can share the concept of teacher profession. 3. The structure of secondary science teacher training program is established to be able to develop teacher competences gradually.
