This study aims to reconstruct formation of Emperor Meiji's educator, Motoda Nagazane especially in his youth related to education style and system in late Edo period in Higo Kumamoto Prefecture. Main topic in this study is to know how Motoda Nagazane' s thought built in his youth which will be the basic of his thought in his activity in Meiji period. It is shown by this study that Motoda Nagazane thought formed at least by two factors: His grandfather daily education and school reformation in Jishukan held by Yokoi Shonan. These two factors gave contribution in Motoda Nagazane thought formation. Nagazane learnt from his grandfather, that a person should respect his ancestor and those ancestor were gave their loyalty to their sovereign. This character fixed in Nagazane. From Yokoi Shonan, he learnt that "think" is the base of knowledge, and learning is to "think". By this concept, Nagazane learnt that truth is transformable.
