This study aimed to clarify the recognition of non-certification holders’ expertise by comparing the degree of importance placed on items of expertise by those with certification (“specialists for care and education in pediatrics” and “hospital play specialists”) and non-certification holders. After comparing 48 codes of items of expertise, significant differences were observed in two codes between “non-certification holders” and “specialists for care and education in pediatrics.” However, there were significant differences in 13 codes between “non-certification holders” and “hospital play specialists.” From the above, it was found that the perceptions of expertise of “non-certification holders” tended to be the same as those of “specialists for care and education in pediatrics.”
