The present research was designed to investigate the effects of shadowing as a training method for learning Japanese as a foreign language. To aim to reveal the effects of shadowing as a training method for learning Japanese as a foreign language, we conducted a longitudinal study of the effect of shadowing as a training method. To clarify the effect of shadowing as a training method, we also conducted the oral repeated reading method. Chinese Japanese learner participated in this study. The effects of those trainings were measured from the perspective of listening skills, reading skills, oral reading fluency. The main findings of this research were as follows: (1) The shadowing training and oral repeated reading improves listening comprehension skill to the same extent. (2) The shadowing training improves reading comprehension skill more than oral repeated reading. (3) The shadowing training and oral repeated reading improve phonological processing efficiency and accuracy in Japanese, however, the effect of oral repeated reading is better than shadowing training.
