Abstract
In this study, we analyzed the results of a questionnaire regarding a new curriculum at Yamaguchi Elementary School attached to the Faculty of Education of Yamaguchi University, in which parents were the respondents. The survey was administered to 346 parents. The survey items consisted of a multiple-choice questionnaire and free descriptions. The qualities and abilities to be developed by the new subject consisted of a total of six categories, including subject-specific qualities, general skills and abilities, and general attitudes. It was found that in cases where children communicate with their families at home on a daily level about school activities, parents are able to explain their own perspectives on the characteristics and abilities of the children developed through these activities.
