The purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between the student’s attitude toward active learning and their Big Five personality traits. The participants were 278 undergraduates from Tokyo and surrounding areas, who were asked to answer the questionaries of Japanese Ten Item Personality Inventory and Active Learning Scale. The Results of regression analysis revealed that the “General Factor” of Active Learning Scale was affected by the personality traits of “Extraversion” Agreeableness”, Neuroticism” and “Openness” and that the factor of “Externalization” in Active Learning Scale was affected by the personality traits of “Conscientiousness”, “Openness” and “Extraversion”. These results indicated that the student’s personality traits might make a difference to the educational outcomes based on the practice of active learning.
