The meaning of “body” and approaches to “culture” in music appreciation classes were explored in reference to the literature. A public elementary school’s music appreciation class was used as a case study to analyze the appearance and function of body and culture related to authentic learning about music appreciation. Three suggestions were obtained from examining music appreciation classes. First, it is important to include a music appreciation class for the purpose of listening using the body as well as listening through the body. Second, the provided cultural knowledge should be considered. Finally, we should be aware of the effects of music on our minds so that it can be positively used in our life.
