It is difficult for nursing students to utilize the knowledge of health care processes in practical training. This study creates a conceptual process chart of nursing processes based on the macrostructure model (Kintsch, 1994) and evaluates its efficacy in order for students in practical training to utilize knowledge of nursing processes. Fortytwo students in the 2nd year of a 3-year program (19 persons in the chart group, 23 persons in the control group) were compared based on instructor evaluations. Six factors were derived based on factor analysis in nursing processes. Evaluation scores for 5 of the 6 factors were shown to be significantly higher for the chart group than the control group, confirming that the nursing process concept chart is effective in promoting students to utilize knowledge in nursing care in practical training.
