Abstract
We learn and teach with embodied intelligence. The importance of the role of body in learning and teaching is pointed out by phenomenologists of human movements, philosophers of education and cognitive scientists. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the structure of the bodily knowledge through the comprehensive discussion on bodily knowledge executed by Kaneko Akitomo (1927-). The basic objectives of bodily knowledge in Kaneko's research are the learning and teaching of sports movements. However we could find out the important role of bodily knowledge also in the practice of Japanese calligraphy. The close relationship between the learner's bodily knowledge and the teacher's bodily knowledge was formulated.
