The purpose of this study was to classify the help-seeking behaviors of university students based on the three restrain factors (Seriousness of problem, Threat for competence, Indebtedness). First, we collected various help-seeking behaviors by preliminary research. Then, we classified the 30 help-seeking behaviors collected in the preliminary research. Participants were 149 (67 men; 82 women) students enrolled in a Japanese university. The factor analysis showed the five patterns of help-seeking behavior (Seeking help for an emergency, Seeking trivial help in daily life, Seeking emotional support, Seeking valuable resources, Self-centered help-seeking). These five patterns have different characteristics from the point of restrain factors respectively.
