Abstract
The purpose of this paper was to make clear how the elementary science curricula devised by the Elementary School Attached to Tokyo First Boys' Normal School and the Metropolitan Board of Education had an influence upon the revision of the Course of Study - Science (Tentative plan) published in 1947. So through the study of documents and records, the following results were reached: (1) The elementary science curriculum (1947・48) designed by the above-mentioned elementary school played an important role with regard to verifying whether the objects and contents of the Course of Study (1947) and "Rikai-no-mokuhyo (Objects of understanding)" (1947) were proper or not. Therefore it contributed to the publication of the revised Course of Study for Elementary School - Science (Tentative plan) published in 1952. (2) The elementary science curriculum (1950) made by the Metropolitan Board of Education was executed in anticipation of the revised Course of Study (1952). (3) The aforesaid curriculum of the Metropolitan Board of Education played a guiding part in giving science lessons according to the new science textbook, "Shogakusei-no-kagaku (Science for school children)", published in 1948.
