Abstract
The purpose of this paper was to make clear how "Rika-no-hon" (1947) had an influence upon the publication of "Shogakusei-no-kagaku" (1948). So through the study of documents and records, the following results were reached: (1) In the stopgap textbook (the fourth grade) published in 1946, many figures and pictures were deleted from "Shotokarika 1" published in 1942 because of material saving. (2) The text of "Rika-no-hon" was almost the same as one of the stopgap textbook (1946). But there were several new units, for example, "Our study" and "Study of rice-plants", etc., in "Rika-no-hon". (3) The unit "Our study" in the fourth grade was different from them in the fifth and sixth grades and showed the aim of science learning and the selection of theme, the process of study. (4) The unit "Study of rice-plants" did not introduce the shoot of rice and the farmwork per season, but showed scientific contents of rice life cycle. (5) The unit "Diary of rice-plants" in "Shogakusei-no-kagaku" published in 1948 followed the unit "Study of rice-plants" in "Rika-no-hon" (1947) with regard to the style of text and figures.
