Abstract
The purpose of this research was to examine the relationships between attitude toward death and sense of life’s value living in adolescents, with a focus on anxiety about death and the tendency to avoid death. The following hypotheses were tested: (1) Those with healthy attitude toward death approach it positively, and they will have low scores for anxiety about death and high scores for sense of life’s value, and (2) those with a tendency to avoid death and refuse to accept it, will have low scores for anxiety about death and low scores for sense of life’s value. Neither of these hypotheses was supported. However, we found a significant negative correlation between the factor of “death relief (a tendency which catches death with release from pain)” and sense of life’s value, as well as a significant positive correlation between “anxiety about death” and “death avoidance”.
