This research aimed to utilize the four steps of the awareness transformation process depicted in Scharmer’s Theory U (downloading, seeing, feeling, and presenting) and establish a lesson concept to deepen the learning of the literature “Life of Ocean” in Japanese elementary school grade six. First, problems in the current teaching material and suggestions for improvement are explored as a background to prove the significance of utilizing theory U, followed by a discussion of teaching potential based on the steps of the theory. Then, a fact-finding survey targeted at elementary school grade 6 pupils was implemented. Finally, the steps of Theory U were applied to class discussions on the climax of the plot, which represents the conversation from “seeing” to “feeling”, as well as establishing the concepts of writing activities to reach the “presenting” level.
