Bing Xin is a prestigious writer in the field of children’s literature in the 20th century. Her beautiful and unique type of writing is named as “Bing Xin Style”. Generally speaking, the Chinese literary circles believe that there are two distinct characteristics in terms of Bing Xin Style, that is to say, “classical vernacular Chinese” and “westernization of Chinese”. To be specific, “classical vernacular Chinese” means one can enjoy the beauty of concise structure of classical Chinese in her vernacular Chinese articles. Meanwhile, “westernization of Chinese” means the Chinese text is imbued with certain features of English grammar. This paper will focus on the Japanese version of Bing Xin’s magnum opus “To My Little Readers”, study the translation methods of “Bing Xin Style” through the use of syllables, level and oblique tones as well as attributives, and then discuss the translation possibility and methods of literary style based on the previous research.
