Rai Mikisaburou is the son of Rai Sanyou, who is famous for his poetry. And he is also the disciple of Yanagawa Seigan, who is one of the representative poets at the end of the Edo period. At present, the literary field of poetry, which Miki is good at, has not been dealt with properly among Japanese literary researchers. The research so far tends to be discussed in comparison with Sanyou, simply labeling it as Miki as a patriot who revere the emperor expel the western barbarians. The influence relationship with Sanyou’s poetry will be clarified through a detailed and in-depth analysis of their poetry. Especially, to explore the impact of Miki by analyzing his poems in memory of Sanyou.
