Utako Shimoda was said to have been a female leading educator in the period from the Meiji era to the Showa era in Japanese women’s history. This paper clarified the substance of her idea of a good wife and a wise mother from sprouting to establishment. When thinking about the ideal way of Japanese Female education, Utako Shimoda accepts the idea of Female education in Western Europe and integrates it with the traditional view of Female education in Japan. Shimoda submitted the educational content of the good wife and wise motherhood, which was the educational view of national integration in Meiji 30s. Shimoda, who held the theory of national polity understood the religion of Western civilization and proposed traditional moral education based on the Japanese samurai spirit.
