Abstract
The purpose of this study was to review studies that explored the curriculum development at the Seijo Elementary School and teaching of physical education from the Taisho Era to the early years of the Showa Era. The results are summarized as follows: 1) The influences from the educational research studied in USA have to be taken notice in case of exploring the curriculum development at the Seijo Elementary School from 1917 to 1945. 2) The reformation of the subjects was limited to teaching method except Japanese and science. 3) As the reformation of physical education lessons pre World War II was limited to teaching method, the study about the reformation of physical education lessons at the Seijo Elementary School from 1917 to 1945 have to be explored from the viewpoint of the reform of teaching materials and contents.
