The purpose of the current study was to translate a specialized scientist’s research process into a learning process, in order to gain answers to the following questions. These questions are; “How can children and students attain deep knowledge through learning?” and “What type of process should a teacher take in studying teaching materials?” For that purpose, the current study aimed to elucidate the learning stages of a researcher by understanding the paper writing process through analyses of a research paper’s structure and by reading of basic concepts and theory in the related field, ultimately translating the discovered learning structure into an effective learning process. The current paper concerns a research study in the field of philosophy. The target research paper was “Typology of Human Beings” by Kazuo Hatakenaka (2009). We organized this researcher’s research activities into 5 different stages, and described concrete learning methods at each stage. Based on this, the current study proposed methods and viewpoints of teaching material studies for a teacher to conduct authentic learning in order to achieve deep understanding in the field of humanities. The key is for teachers to attain “an accurate academic understanding of the processes and viewpoints of an investigation” and “a discovery of associations between existing knowledge and new information.” The current paper proposes a solution to overcome reliability problems that teachers possess in achieving the academic understanding of specialized sciences.
