Abstract
Okikamuro is a small island located adjacent to Suo Oshima in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. However, many natives of the island left to find jobs or emigrated to other countries during the Meiji, Taisho and Showa periods. The main destinations were Hawaii, North and South Korea, Taiwan, and Manchuria. Based on a local magazine called "Kamuro", This paper analyzes the living conditions of these immigrants and the reasons for immigration. Further, This paper researches the living conditions of local islanders from the Meiji period to the Showa period interviews.
