The thinking person is an anticipating personという文はThinking is anticipatingというも可能であろう。「文は人なり」というように,人はどの一面にもそのcharacterが顔をのぞかせるものだ。生徒のもつnatural impulseをorganizeし,そのconsciousnessをre-organizeすることによって,英語の学習をもっと楽しいものにしよう。その手がかりとしてRhetoricを再興しよう。MichelangeloはThe more the marble wastes, the more the statue grows.といっている。double, trippleをsingleにしよう。たとえばDisraeliのWhen I want to read a novel, I write oneという表現はReading is writingのことではないか。S.ButlerのPleasure after all is a safer guide than either right or dutyはPleasure is a safe guideでよい。服装によって人の判断を誤らないために真のRhetoricを再興しよう。
