The purpose of this study was to identify the nursing administrators' recognition about the acceptance of the certified (neonatal intensive care) expertized nurse and to find the possibility of make use of the certified expertized nurse clinically. The questionnaires were sent to the nursing administrators of 16 hospitals which have the neonatal intensive care unit As a result. 1) everyone answered that the certified expertized nurses are necessary, and 70% of them answered "certainly necessary" and "certified expertized nurses will be dispatched to the in-service training from time to time, and desired to be employed as soon as possible." ; 2) If the employment is under the consideration, 50% answered that "the in-service training will be treated as an official trip", "the payment will be fully insured", and "the traffic expenses are fully paid." ; 3) Everyone answered that "the role and the responsibility will be given to the certified expertized nurses." These results were as same as those of the study undertook toward the staff nurses and nurse managers in 1996. The recognition for the certified expertized nurse by the nursing administrators is positive and also active, and the possibility for the make use of the certified expertized nurse clinically will be big. For the smooth use, the role, the responsibility, and the authority should be clearly stated and be understood. And also, in order not to confuse the certified expertized nursing system, it should be distinguished from other in-service triaging and the recognized systems.
