読むという出来事を誘う力 : 〈誤読〉の豊かさについて <特集 : 誤読>

〈誤読〉が積極的な意味を帯びるのは、それが私たちの既存の価値観を揺さぶる時である。本稿においては、〈誤読〉を単に正しい読みに対立する概念としてではなく、代案としての様々な読みを示す営みを指すものとして捉えた。リチャーズやリファテールの読みの理論を批判的に捉えた上で、主としてスコールズの〈対抗的に読むreading against〉という考え方に依拠しながら、一次的なテクストに対するもうひとつのテクストを読者が産み出し、その営みを通じて読者としての主観性を形成することが、出来事としての読みを誘うことに繋がると論じた。

"Misreading" functions positively when it undermines our established values. Here I will offer the act of misreading not as opposed to so-called adequate reading but as open to so many interpretations. The reading theories of I. A. Richards and Michael Riffaterre are instructive but they seem to miss the importance of misreading. Whereas what Robert Scholes calls "reading against" is much more useful. So following Scholes' idea, I will examine how the reader transfigures the original text through his/her misreading and in the very act forms his/her own identity as the subject of reading. While liberating the reader from the author's authority, such misreading makes the act of reading a performance where each reader experiences his/her own reading as an event.
