Abstract
The purpose of this study is to point out the merits and the demerits of the "wirkungsgeschichtlich" method in studying Pestalozzi's pedagogy. In this paper, especialy taking up the method of F. Osterwalder, try to distinguisch Pestalozzi's own work from the things carried out under the name of Pestalozzi. The result is as follows. The merits of the "wirkungsgeschichtlich" method are to make clear the relation between his pedagogy and historical facts in the 19th century. And the demerits are that the historical value of Pestalozzi's pedagogy is not so clear. It is our problem to search the method of the historical understanding of Pestalozzi.
