A Study on the Education of Morality in Pestalozzi's Pedagogy

The purpose of this study is to make clear the relation between the political demand and the educational idea through the analysis of Pestalozzi's pedagogy. In this paper, the moral education means the indoctrination by the governing classes and the education of morality means the development of individual moral sense meeting the demand of the times. Pestalozzi's educational idea has changed from the moral education to the education of morality according to the structural change of the society. The more he had the distance from the goverment, the more his educational idea became liberal, whether the goverment became liberal or not. As the result the educational idea of the goverment must be conservative if the goverment should be liberal. So the relation between the political demand and educational ideas is not dependent but relatively independent.
