Abstract
This study aims to clarify the modifications that need to be made by a teacher to their pedagogy in music classes to enable students to feel “expectancy” and “value” in learning and to deepen their interest in study contents. First, a questionnaire survey was administered to students, asking about situations in which their motivation to learn declines, and three factors were extracted. The first factor was “deviation from ideals and difficulties,” the second factor was “lack of purpose in learning,” and the third factor was “poor human and physical environment.” Based on the descriptive responses of the students, a model was developed to determine the efforts that need to be made by a teacher to improve students’ motivation to learn music, such as facilitating their successful learning experiences and responding to their intellectual curiosity.
