Abstract
The Shirataki mining district is a part of the Besshi-Shirataki region, a zone of spotted schists (crystalline schists with albite porphyroblasts) in the Sambagawa metamorphic zone. In the present paper, stratigraphy, petrographical characteristics, and geological structure of crystalline schist system in the district are described. In this connection, the location of cupriferous pyritic deposits (Kieslager) is noticed.
