Abstract
This paper examines the activities and roles of the Kikkawa’s musket corps in the territory of the Mori during the Sengoku period.
Kikkawa organized a musket corps by acquiring a port as a base for international trade and expanding the base of human resources in Eiroku period.
The Kikkawa’s musket corps provided support to neighboring units until the war against the Amago-saikogun army.
When the war with the Oda began, the Kikkawa was in a position to single-handedly lead operations in the Sanin region, and the activities of the Kikkawa’s musket corps became more active.
Sengoku-daimyo had the responsibility to support the morale of the Kunishu and maintain the front line as long as they mobilized the Kunishu’s forces. The Kikkawa used his musket corps to carry out the military responsibility of the Mori on their behalf.
