Abstract
This paper resituates Thomas Whythorne in the music history of England. Whythorne was unknown even at his period, although he had published his music twice. Sadly enough, his music had been estimated to be 'second-class', until when a part of his music was transcribed and published in 1927. Since then, his music has been re-evaluated in the flourishing of secular songs in late 16th century England. The author of this paper would reveal that his significance was not only in that point, but also in the music education of that period. For this purpose, it would be unveiled the educative features of his second music book, Duos, or Songs for Two V oyces (1590).
