Novel high-cycle fatigue test results are presented for a multi-tubular heat exchanger specimen. The unique test specimen is developed with multiple tubes. Cracks were sequentially generated at the welded regions. These cracks were enlarged under tensile cyclic load. Fatigue crack propagation (CP) was produced with complicated-shaped crack geometries. Stress analysis and CP simulation are performed to analyze the experimental observations. The complicated CP phenomenon is successfully reproduced through numerical simulations. Fracture patterns and CP behaviors are discussed. Finally, the fatigue CP characteristics of the multi-tubular heat exchanger specimen are studied from the fracture mechanics viewpoint.
