Abstract |
Students in science courses are expected to learn about a variety of knowledge and experiences through observation of nature, but even university students who want to become science teachers often feel that they lack knowledge and experience with various natural phenomena. In this study, Azumako Falls in Saijo Basin, which is located about 3.4 km from the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus and can be reached in about 20 minutes by bicycle, was selected as the observation point. Topography of the Saijo Basin is characterized by Mesozoic granite, the Saijo Formation deposited within the basin, and the Kurosegawa River system, which is currently eroding the Saijo Formation in the southern part of the basin. The actual field observations revealed the need to gain more experience in making more comprehensive judgments about rocks, plants.
