| Abstract |
In this paper, the use of ellipsis forms in the syntactic structure of Italian noun phrases is analyzed by using two prose works written by Giacomo Leopardi Cl 798-1837) in the first half of the 19th century. There are obligatory and arbitrary ellipsis in Italian of the time, which is the same as present day. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the use of ellipsis forms from the syntactic structure and the phonetic condition. It will be significant to study Italian use of the century for the linguistic history.
