一難聴生徒に対する英単語読みの指導（２） : 指導過程の概要

中学校難聴特別支援学級に在籍する１名の３年生徒に対して、英単語の読みを確実に習得するために行った指導の概要についてまとめた。生徒はこれまで英語を声に出して覚えることをしてこなかったことを考慮し、英単語の綴り字規則を視覚的に提示しながら、読み方を「かな（カナ）」で書いて覚える形式の指導を行った。英語科教科書の単語を用いて、綴り字規則の13のカテゴリーに基づいて指導したが、その内容と順序については、前稿で報告した事前テストの結果に基づいて、筆者らが独自に作成した。14回にわたって指導し、終了後に行った事後テスト（事前テストで読めなかった単語、指導に用いた単語、事後テストで新たに使用した単語、計102語を使用）では、90% 以上の正答率を示した。今回の方法が他の聴覚障害生徒にも適用できるかどうかについては、今後の検討が必要と考えられた。

This paper summarized the outline of the teaching process intended to acquire the reading skills of English words for one 3rd grade student enrolled in the special class of hard of hearing in the public junior high school. In consideration of the fact that the students have not learned and remembered English not orally so far, we chose the method of teaching English word spelling rules by presenting visually and asked the student to write how to read them by Japanese. We taught 13 categories of spelling rules including several sub-rules, with using the words included in the English textbooks, but the contents and order of the rules were formulated originally by the authors based on the results of the pretest reported in the previous paper. Basically, we divided English words into syllables and taught how to write them in Japanese. The results of the posttest conducted after 14 times teaching sessions, that included the English words used in the pretest, the words used for teaching, and the words newly used in the posttest, total of 102 words, showed the correct answer rate of over 90%. Future study is required as to whether this method can be applied to other hearing impaired students.
