Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the learning process in a technology education lesson based on a practical teaching method that promotes technology governance in technology assessment. Analysis was conducted to clarify the change in the opinions and reasons of students regarding technology assessment and to consider providing an explanation for these opinions and reasons to other students. We conducted a class practice on “production and consumption of native species” and analyzed the learning process of 72 students divided into 18 groups. Analyzing the changes in their opinions and reasons, we were able to confirm that the students were enabled to evaluate various aspects in the field of technology through the practical teaching methods adopted in the class as indicated in previous research. It was verified that students make decisions while adjusting and integrating their opinions and reasons based on discussion with other students. Students changed their opinions and explained the reasons for technology assessment based on knowledge rather than for the reason presented and the like.
